Trout Fishing Tackle
"A rod, reel, line, net, nylon, a few flies, a pair of scissors and a permit and you are off. The whole lot can be acquired for £100, so it need not be expensive. If you want to arm yourself with an entire tackle shop there are many locations which will oblige!"
Game fishing for salmon, sea trout or brown trout and in some places rainbow trout or grayling, can be enjoyed at a number of locations throughout the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

Boat fishing, as well as bank fishing, is available in many of the locations, including on Loch Earn, where bank fishing for Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout is permitted at points all round the loch. Boat fishing is permitted and
boat hire, boat launching and mooring facilities are available at Lochearnhead and St Fillans for anglers fishing on Loch Earn.

"... one good thing is, no national rod license is required in Scotland as there is in England and permits for most of the river systems can be obtained from a variety of tackle shops and hotels. Fishing permits for brown trout fishing are available from as little as six or seven pounds a day and salmon fishing permits from as little as £20 to £25 a day."
The European brown trout (Salmo trutta) is found throughout Scotland in both running and still waters. It favours cold, clean, well-oxygenated rivers and lochs. The species is held in very high regard by anglers.
Lochearnhead Post Office wishes all angling customers a very successful 2010 season
